Garrett Roe - 5'8" 165- Forward, Vienna, VA
2006-07 - Indianapolis Ice (USHL)
2005-06 - Indianapolis Ice (USHL)
2004-05 - Indianapolis Ice (USHL)
2003-04 - Shattuck St. Mary's (MN)
A three-year veteran of the USHL, this feisty forward will be immediately ready to step into the lineup for the Huskies and make an impact.  One of the few players in college hockey from the state of Virginia,  Roe got his start with the Reston Raiders youth hockey program and then skated a year with the renowned Shattuck program in Faribault, MN. Roe joined the Indy Ice in 2004-05 accumulating 24 points and 62 penalty minutes in 52 games.  In 2005-06 Roe broke out with a 56 point season on 24 goals and 32 assists and 93 PIM's.  As one of the top offensive players in the USHL in 2006-07 he put up 27-49- 76 in 60 games.  A player who can get under the skin of his opponents, Roe racked up 151 PIM during the season as well.  "Garrett Roe epitomizes what every hockey team seeks in a complete player," stated Indiana Ice President/G.M. Paul Skjodt. "Not only is he a fine student athlete, but his passion, heart, and style of play is something that no one can teach. We know he will be a Husky fan favorite from day one".  Roe should be of the top young players in the WCHA in 2007-08.
Nick Oslund- 6'3" 200 - Forward, Burnsville, MN
2006-07 - Tri-City Storm (USHL)
2005-06 - Tri-City Storm (USHL)
2005-06 - Burnsville High School (MSHL)
2004-05 - Burnsville High School (MSHL)

The Huskies coaching staff likes what they see in this 2006 seventh round draft choice of the Detroit  Red Wings.  it's the first time in 13 years that the Wings have  drafted  a player directly out of high school. This big bruising forward was  a Minnesota high school Mr. Hockey finalist in 2005-06 after leading Burnsville in scoring with 22-29-51 in 27 games. In 2006-07 he had 7 goals and 15 assists in  65 games for the Storm.  A good skater for his size, Oslund will be counted on to provide a physical presence.  He competes hard, punishes opponents with his hits and is a tenacious forechecker.  He'll add good size at forward for the Huskies.
Aaron Marvin - 6'2" 200 - Forward, Warroad, MN
2006-07 - Tri-City Storm (USHL)
2006-07 - Warroad H.S. (MSHL)
2005-04 - Warroad H.S. (MSHL)
2004-05 - Warroad H.S. (MSHL)

The Huskies coaching staff surprised many by landing this top northern Minnesota player who was also being recruited by UND.  This player  comes from one of Minnesota's most well known hockey families - the Marvin's who have had a big impact on high school and college hockey in Minnesota and the WCHA. Aaron's sister, is a top women's hockey player for the University of Minnesota.   Marvin was drafted in the third round (89th overall) in the 2006 NHL entry draft by the Calgary Flames.  He played  thirteen games for the Tri-City Storm of the USHL following his 2006-07 high school season and had one goal and three assists.  He was partnered on a line with Nick Oslund another SCSU recruit. In 2006-07 he put up 71 points on 31 goals and 40 assists and was a 2007 Mr. Hockey fnalist.  In 2005-06 he had 9-21-30 and in 2004-05 put up 23-25-48.  A four year high school player for the Warriors,  he had four goals and  eighteen assists as a 9th grader. In addition to being a member of several USA hockey select teams Marvin led his summer Elite League squad in scoring in 2006.  Tough on the puck and with good hands Marvin has good on-ice instincts and makes good passes.  Marvin can play a physical puck posession type game and skates well for his size.
Brett Barta - 6' 1" 180 - Defenseman, Moorhead, MN
2006-07 - Waterloo Blackhawks (USHL)
2005-06 - Bozeman Icedogs (NAHL)
2004-05 - Moorhead H.S. (MSHL)
2003-04 - Morrhead H.S. (MSHL)
The Huskies have picked up another quality defenseman in Brett Barta, a former high school teammate of current Husky Jon Ammerman.  Barta most recently skated for Waterloo of the USHL in 2006-07 and was their top scoring defenseman with 9-33-41 in 67 games. Previous to that, he was a top blueliner for Bozeman of the NAHL leading them to the league title.  Barta is a quick, agile defenseman who moves the puck well and can put up some offensive points. He's particularly solid on the power play and should eventually work his way onto special teams play.  A good athlete, Barta also played football for Moorhead H.S. and was a member of one of the top hockey defensive squads  in Minnesota High School hockey in 2004-05 with Ammerman and NHL first-rounder, Brian Lee.   While with Waterloo, Barta won the unsung hero award in 2007 and finished fourth in the league for defenseman with a +20 rating.  An experienced player, Barta should crack the Huskies lineup and gain valuable playing experience in 2007-08. Look for Barta to develop into a solid WCHA defender at St. Cloud State.
Dan Dunn - 6'4" 200 Goaltender, Oshawa, Ont
2006-07 - Wellington Dukes (OPJHL)
2005-06 - Cobourg Cougars (OPJHL)
2004-05 - Oshawa Legionaires (OPJHL)

The Huskies have nabbed another NHL drafted goalie in Dan Dunn.  This native of Oshawa, Ont was picked 154th overall in the 2007 NHL entry draft by the Washington Capitals.  Dunn played for the Wellington Dukes of the Ontario Provincial Junior Hockey League in 2006-07 and impressed scouts with his size, athleticism and reflexes. Considered a sleeper in the draft, Dunn was ranked as the 25th top goaltender by Central Scouting in North America.  In 2006-07 Dunn backstopped the Dukes in 27 games earning a 19-4-2 win/loss record and two shutouts. He compiled an outstanding .934 SV% and 1.94 GAA.  Dunn was also showcased in the CJAHL Prospects game in 2006. A goaltender with great upside potential Dunn should get his share of icetime in 2007-08 as the Huskies look to replace the now departed All-American, Bobby Goepfert.
Tony Mosey - 5'10" 180 Forward, Prior Lake MN
2006-07 - Salmon Arm Silverbacks (BCJHL)
2005-06 -  US National Team Development Program
2004-05 - Shattuck St. Mary's (MN)
2003-04 - Shattuck St. Mary's (MN)
The Huskies have recruited another skill player in  forward Tony Mosey who is  a product of the strong Shattuck St. Mary's AAA Midget program.  This smooth skating native of Prior Lake, MN  left the Prior Lake program after his freshman year and joined  Shattuck St. Mary's  where he scored 63 points in 53 games despite missing 15 games.  In 2005-06 he earned a spot on the US National Team Development Under 18 program scoring 4 goals and 10 assists in 23 games.  In 2006-07 Mosey joined the Salmon Arm Silverbacks of the British Columbia Junior Hockey League (BCJHL) and finished second on the team in scoring  with 30 goals and 50 assists  for  80 points includng 58 penalty minutes. Mosey earned the Silverback's fan favorite award in 2007.He was a teammate of and was paired with SCSU recruit Brian Volpie (see below) at Salmon Arm.  . Considered a good playmaker with good skill in traffic Mosey should benefit from  the larger ice surface of the National Hockey Center.  Mosey will be counted on to provide some offense for the Huskies  and to battle for regular playing time during the 2006-07 season.

Brian Volpie -  5'9" 175 Forward, Burbank, CA
2006-07 - Salmon Arm Silverbacks (BCJHL)
2005-06 - Shattuck St. Mary's U18 (MN)
2004-05 - Shattuck St Mary's U16 (MN)
2003-04 - Bantam 88's (CA)

The Huskies have added another Californian to their roster in recruit, Volpie. The native of Burbank, CA will join Salmon Arm Teammate Tony Mosey on the Huskies roster in 2006-07. Volpie had an outstanding offensive season for Salmon Arm in 2006-07 netting 25 goals and assisting on  39 others for 64 points in 60 games. While with Shattuck St Mary's Midget AAA team, Volpie finished second in scoring with 87 goals, 78 assists for 165 points as the team won the under 18 Tier 1 National Midget Championship.  Volpie also competed in the USA select 17 camp in 2005. In California, Volpie was also a  member of the  Bantam 88's that won a national bantam title and is a product of the California Wave youth program that produced another Husky from California, Ryan Lasch. He has shown an ability to put up huge offensive numbers at the junior and U18 level and the Huskies hope it continues in the WCHA for Volpie. The SCSU coaching staff is looking for big things out of Volpie as he begins his career as a Husky.
Brent Borgen - 5' 11" 190 Forward, Mahtomedi, MN
2006-07 - Did not Play ( Transfer Year)
2005-06 - Lincoln Stars (USHL)
2005-06 - University of Minnesota (WCHA)
2004-05 - Lincoln Stars (USHL)
A transfer from the University of Minnesota, Borgen will play with grit and should see lots of ice time for the Huskies.  Not shy to play physical, Borgen had 94 PIM while with Lincoln of the USHL in 2004-05. He also put up 17-17-34 in 58 games for the Stars that same year. His time was limited to 24 games over less than two seasons with the Gophers in 2004-05 and 2005-06 and he'll be anxious to hit the ice for the Huskies in 2007-08. He was a member of the 2002 U.S. Under-18 Select Team and 2001 U.S. Under-17 Select Team,  A 2003 All-Classic Suburban selection during his senior season at Mahtomedia High School, Borgen finished third in the state in 2002-03 in scoring with 35-3--71. He was 15th in the state in scoring in 2001-02 with 36-2--60.

Luca Cunti - 6' 190 Forward, Dubendorf, Switzerland
2006-07 - Team Switzerland (U 18)
2006-07 - GCK Lions ( Swiss Jr Hockey)
2005-06 - NLB Tier II (Swiss Mens League)
2005-06 - Team Switzerland (U 18)
The Huskies coaching staff may have uncovered a real gem in this youngster from Dubendorf, Switzerland. Described by a number of scouting services as one of the top Swiss players to emerge in years, Cunti was pegged as the 38th best player by TSN entering the 2007 NHL entry draft. His stock slipped somewhat after being described as an "individualist" and "one-dimensional" but was still  picked 75th overall by the Tampa Bay Lightning. Other rankings included 23rd by The Hockey News , 12th ranked European by Central Scouting and 58th overall by Red Line Report. An outstanding skater with world class skill and soft hands, Cunti led the Swiss Under 18 team in goals with 3 in 6 games in the World Championships in 2007. A threat everytime he hits the ice, he has a tendency to score in the clutch and is fun to watch with his highlight reel scoring. This player will add an immediate injection of offense into the Huskies lineup in 2007-08 but must also be convinced to deal with the physical play and defensive responsibilities needed to be successful in the WCHA.  He'll be a top rookie in the league in 2007-08.
