Originally pegged to join the Huskies in 2005-06 a change of plans has him joining the SCSU defensive corps in 2004. One of the top offensive defensemen in the BCHL, he is a mobile defenseman with excellent acceleration and agility. He moves the puck well, makes good passes and rushing the puck is one of his strengths. A power play specialist, he was traded to Victoria mainly for his offensive and power play abilities but according to his coach "he's also strong defensively". He also particpated in roller hockey and was captain of the West Coast Roller Hockey team which won the U-17 Canadien National Tournament . He was also named MVP of the tournament. This flashy player will need to work on his size and strength but can be one of the top young players in the WCHA in 2004-05. He should see ample playing time and will put up some solid offensive numbers by the time his SCSU career is over.
Andrew Gordon - 5'11" 180, Forward, Porters Lake, NS
The Huskies picked up one of the SJHL's top academic and offensive players in Andrew Gordon. Gordon comes to St. Cloud from the Notre Dame Hounds, one of the top hockey programs in Canada with a rich tradition of academic success. He is the first player from Nova Scotia to join the Huskies and the second from Notre Dame, the first being Jordan Wingate who played defense for the Huskies in the late 80's. Gordon's hockey accomplishments and resume are extensive. In 2003-04 he finished the season scoring over a point per game with 20 goals, 44 assists and 64 points and only incurred 12 PIM. He was named the league's Kresse-Kruger-Mantyka Scholar Athlete of the Year. Look to Gordon for a solid freshman year and substantial playing time.

2003-04 Danville Wings (USHL)
2002-03 White Bear Lake H.S. (MSHL)
2001-02 White Bear Lake H.S. (MSHL)
Outstanding play for the Minnesota Elite League Northeast team in 2002 opened the eyes of the Huskies coaching staff. His size, fluid skating and toughness will be assets as he moves to the next level in the WCHA. He was the second pick in the first round of the USHL draft in 2003 by the Sioux Falls Stampede. It was an eye opener to be released by Sioux City and he subsequently was picked up by the Danville Wings of the USHL where he responded and became a staple on defense playing in 58 games scoring 11 points on 3 goals and 8 assists. After acclimating himself to the league he really performed well down the stretch with his solid defensive play. With lots of upside potential he proved he can play the physical game as he racked up 102 PIM in 2003-04. A top player for White Bear Lake (MN) High School he led his team to the Minnesota State High School tournament in 2003 and scored 4 goals and 16 assists during the regular season. Anderson has all the tools to play in the WCHA and will be counted on to provide muscle at the defensive position. It'll be defense first but his strong fluid stride will allow him to be an excellent rushing defenseman when he needs to.

Sean just completed his first season with Green Bay of the USHL. Although slowed by illness at the start of the season, he still finished the year strong with 11 goals and 18 assists in 48 games, 86 PIM and was +5. The highlight of the season was on March 26th scoring 4 goals vs St. Louis including 2 goals in less than a minute. This hard working power forward posseses a strong and accurate shot, strong skating skills, and can play the physical game. He comes to the Huskies as part of the No. St. Paul / Green Bay Gamblers "package" with long-time teammate Nate Dey. His game is certainly suited to the WCHA and he'll get plently of opportunities to perform during the 2004-05 season.
The other half of the duo from North St. Paul (MN) H.S. Nate is the first Minnesota "Mr. Hockey" winner to play for the Huskies. This award was given to him in 2003 and honors the top boys high school player in the state of Minnesota. He competed for Green Bay of the USHL in 2003-04 and finished fifth in team scoring with 36 points on 16 goals and 36 assists and had the highest shooting percentage on the team. He made great progress throughout the season and really finished strong for the Gamblers. He also performed well on the power play with 7 goals and had 3 game winners and was +4 for the season. 2002-03 Tri-City Storm (USHL
2001-02 Prince George Spruce Kings (BCJHL)
2000-01 Shattuck- St. Mary's
Filling the void left by the departure of senior Andy Lundbohm should be no problem for this player. After all, his motto is "hard work beats talent". He would probably be the first to tell you he won't be the top skater on the SCSU squad but that should not be a barrier for success for this player. You need to look no further back than at players like Lundbohm and former Husky Captain George Awada. Described as a "grinder" Mjelleli worked his way to success over two seasons in the USHL with Tri-City and Des Moines. In 2003-04 he exploded offensively and was one of the leagues top scorers for much of the early part of the season. His scoring tailed off some but he still finished with nearly a point a game with 21 goals, 36 assists, 57 points in 60 games and a +2 for the year. His success earned him a spot on Team USHL in the 2004 Prospects USHL All-Star game. In 02-03 splitting time between Tri-City and Des Moines of the USHL he put up 23 points ( 11 goals, 12 assists ) in 58 games. In 01-02 he played for Prince George of the BCJHL. Prior to that, he was a product of the highly successful Shattuck program that has produced numerous Division 1 players including Ryan Malone and Casey Borer of the Huskies. He was a member of the 2001 National Champion Shattuck team and a member of the Shattuck Bantams that put together an amazing 45 game unbeaten streak. This hard-working player will be tough to keep out of the lineup in 2004.
A 2004-05 late addition to the Huskies, he impressed the SCSU coaching staff with his play in the 2004 Royal Bank Cup. This "defensive" defenseman has great size, is tough along the boards and in the corners, blocks shots well and will provide excellent support for the offensive-minded defensemen of the Huskies. In 2003-04 he had 16 points in 56 games and accumulated 128 penalty minutes. He was a member of the regular season league and Fred Page Cup Champion Nepean Raiders that represented the CJHL in the Royal Bank Tournament. In 2002-03 he was a member of the Cambridge Winterhawks of the Midwestern Jr B Hockey League scoring 39 points ( 9G, 30A ) in 49 games, 113 PIM and was named an east team all-star. He made great strides this year at Nepean and his toughness will help his transition to the WCHA. Stephenson follows former Husky captain and defenseman Kyle McLaughlin (95-99) to the program from Nepean.
