RITCHIE LARSON'S "HOCKEY 101" FUN FOR TEACHER AND STUDENTS
Put former SCSU Husky assistant captain and utility player in front of a room to speak about nearly any subject and you would be sure to be entertained. Give him the subject of hockey for which he has a passion and knowlege and you have an hour of fun and education. Larson, who is interning at the National Hockey Center and currently working on his masters degree was called upon by the CIC  to promote and then hold court on hockey basics.  The idea was actually propagated  by hockey parent Gerry Peters, CIC President Bill Prout and Larson while conversing over a beverage on a road trip in Duluth earlier this season. After suggesting it to a few hockey fans it was determined there could be interest and a  date was set (January 24) and the word was put out. The session attracted 21 participants eager to gain additional hockey knowlege and listen to a former Husky player who competed for the Huskies  from 1997 to 2001 an played both forward and defense.  The hour long session included a presentation on hockey equipment, hockey basics, game strategy and a Q&A session. The session concluded with a tour of both the women's and men's locker room facilities, the training room and even equipment manager Jeremiah Minkel's work area. All participants were presented with an official SCSU hockey puck.  Subequent feedback has been nothing short of tremendous and it was suggested additional sessions be scheduled.  Many thanks go out to Ritchie Larson for his commitment of time in presenting this entertaining and fun session!
